Vintage 2008

Magnificent! One epithet sums up the general impression at the end of the 2008 harvest. Valais growers are expressing their satisfaction, which sounds like a relieved "Ouf! A few weeks earlier, faces were closed and anxious as they contemplated the forthcoming harvest. The mixed weather in September had favoured the appearance of a few areas of rot. But ideal weather conditions helped to correct the situation. First of all, the winegrowers were able to count on a few cool, windy days which dried out the affected berries. The long, magnificent Indian summer did the rest.
In terms of quantity, the harvest was rather modest. In terms of quality, it was much better. Unlike very hot, early years, the berries were able to reach ideal phenolic ripeness, as the sugar levels took longer to reach the desired levels.
